Mobile? Yes. Crawling?.....Not Really.

Ezra has decided that he doesn't like pureed foods anymore with the exception of squash. So, we have started into the wonderful realm of finger foods that don't actually need teeth to chew. So far he really likes bread and gerber puffs. Today he had pancakes for the first time and loved them.

Enjoying breakfast.

The past couple of weeks have been interesting because Ezra has decided to give up his midday nap. Let's just say some days were more tiring than others.

I don't want to take a nap.

After going back and forth over whether I wanted to cut my hair or not I finally decided to go short. (Ezra grabbing my hair a lot kind of helped) I'm really glad I did. I love it.

Ezra has a shoe fetish and he will do anything to get to a shoe if he sees one. It's pretty funny considering he can't crawl yet. He does do this cute move that gets him everywhere and I mean everywhere. I'm definitely getting some exercise trying to keep him out of things.

Pretty shoes

Doing his own type of crawl.

Toys, Fruit, and Crawling soon.

Ahh ... the mid-winter in Phoenix. Its this time of year that we look at each other and say "This is why we live in Arizona." Mid 60's to mid 70's during the day. Beautiful.

Ezra has been getting really excited about stuff this past week.

He still really likes his soft blocks. Actually, he probably likes them a lot better now because he can hold them, chew on them, throw them, etc.

He really likes Susan's exercise ball too. He likes the noises that it makes when he pounds on it. He also likes bouncing on it with either of us.

Ezra has also been learning a few new things. He's quite a bit more mobile now, and starting to get into anything he can get his hands on. He's not really out and out crawling yet, just pulling himself across the floor and rolling a bit, but the last few days he's been getting up onto his hands and knees. He has a tendency to get kind of cranky for a bit when he starts learning big new things, and this week has been no exception. The last couple of days, as well as getting onto his hands and knees and moving around more, he's been realizing that he can make screaming noises whenever he wants, much to our chagrin. Oh well, so it goes. It was funny, tonight when we were about to say prayer for dinner, and had the TV muted, he scooted up, grabbed the volume knob and turned it a bit. So it starts ...

In other news, we've been eating a lot more fruit recently; which has been a good thing. We were kind of surprised how full our fruit bowl is after going shopping, but then again, we'll get through most of it by the end of the week, so its all good.

Games, Bottles, Swings, & Potatoes...

The last couple of weeks have been interesting. Ezra keeps getting bigger by the day it seems. Every day brings something new. The other day while we were playing Wii, Ezra woke up from his nap and played on the floor for a bit while we finished the last part of our game. He kept looking up at us and reaching for the controller whenever either of us would get close to him, so we gave him one to play with. It was funny to watch.

We decided to see what he'd do with trying to feed himself, so we stripped him down and gave him a pile of mashed potatoes to play with. He actually ate quite a bit, once he figured out what it was.

He's been holding his own bottle now. One day, Susan took the bottle from him since he was just playing around and not drinking. Apparently, he finally decided that he was hungry because he took it from her hands and stuck it into his mouth.

We also took him out to the park this weekend. It was nice to get out for a bit. He liked the swing, though he wasn't sure exactly what to make of the slide when each of us went down it with him.

In other news, Shawn's birthday was this week. There were random other goings on throughout the week. We had someone in the ward baby-sit for us and were able to go out on a date this weekend, which was really nice. Tonight we had Ammon & Shari over for dinner and games. They really like coming over and playing with Ezra. Dinner was really good too! Rhonda's recipe for pork Barbacoa is awesome! Susan made a really good red velvet cake too. We all were really full after dinner.

Going Retro!

While we were in New Mexico for Christmas Shawn's mom brought out some of his old clothes. We thought that one outfit in particular was awesome. So, on new year's morning I came out into the front room and Shawn had already dressed Ezra. What do you think of his new retro look? I think it's adorable.

Hi!

Watch my new dance move. Pretty cool, huh?

Ezra also wants to thank Megan and Ryan for this cute top. (the pants are still a little too big) So, we noticed he is really good at imitating a chubby baby. It's pretty cute. See.

Merry Christmas

We had a really nice week for Christmas. It had a lot of firsts for Ezra. He got his first look at snow, and wasn't sure what to make of it. Cold and wet, but who knows. He also reached out for Susan when someone else was handing him to her, which made her happy.

He met Shawn's cousin Daniel, who is 2 days younger than him. They seemed to notice each other and interact a bit, though they certainly have different temperments.

We tried some hats on him, and he got this one that Shawn used to wear when he was a baby. Ezra really liked the strings.

We had a lot of fun seeing family from both sides. Ezra had a lot of fun playing with his three aunts. We found this brightly colored butterfly that Lori had, and Ezra loved it.

Ezra got more presents than both of us combined, but that was no surprise. He really liked the stuffed puppy that Grandma K, (his great-great grandma) got for him. I think it was about his favorite thing.

He tried on Grandpa Christian's hat too, but it was a bit large on him. That's okay, he'll grow into it.

Here's a couple more pictures of Ezra, sticking his tongue out. He sticks his tongue out a lot when he's happy and excited. There was a lot of being excited this last week.

Thanksgiving and Stuff

So this last week and a half have been interesting. Ezra finally fits into his tie onesie that Jess made for him. Isn't it cute?

Ezra's hair has been growing out quite a bit too. Its still crazy to us how fast he's been growing.

Thanksgiving was spent just the three of us. It was nice, but just seemed odd to not have a lot of family around. Susan made an amazing dinner. The turkey breast was divine. How do you like our spread?

The few days off of work were nice too. Too bad we all caught a cold (we're not sure who caught it first). Ezra has been fairly congested, which has made for some late nights, but it could have been a lot worse. We're mostly all better now, which is good.

The weather has been really nice, though a bit chilly at night and early in the morning. (Chilly for here, so mid to low 40s).

It won't be too much longer and we're probably going to have to retire the bouncer. Ezra still really likes it though. We'll see how long it is before he outgrows it.

Thanksgiving evening we put up the tree. Its not a large, grand tree, but it works for us right now. Next year we may have to change things a bit with the ornaments, since most of them are glass, but we'll see.

All the excitement wore Ezra out. He has a tendency to fall asleep during his last bottle, and on Thanksgiving it didn't take long for him to be out.

Other random things. He likes to taste everything (like any good 5 month old). Its funny because a lot of times, if anything is close to his mouth at all he'll try and lick it.
