Ezra has started feeling quite a bit better. He's still not 100%, but he's getting into everything again, which is a good sign. He's been talking a lot, and using new sounds. He says mama and dada a lot, though a lot of times he's just making noise.
He's started pulling him self onto things more. Earlier today he crawled over our barricade to keep him from going behind the couch ( aka our tent). He's been really pulling him self up on some bins that we had blocking the hallway. He's been trying to climb over them but has a tendency to loose his grip.At one point he realized that he could almost fit between them. Trying to make a break for it.
We got the house we were looking at, so we sign our lease tomorrow. It will be so nice to be out of apartments. We got a new bed set, since in our new place our bedroom is right at the top of the stairs. Isn't it pretty?
And then for the escapades in food. Here's some pita bread pizzas we made last night. They were so good!

Our Sick Baby
So the last day or so has been a bit exhausting for all three of us. Ezra got sick. He started coughing pretty bad and whatnot. We took him in, but he didn't seem to have too many other symptoms. He ended up with an appointment with the other doctor, since his doctor didn't have any open appointments. They attributed it all to him teething (his gums have been pretty swollen), and sent us home. Last night none of us really slept. He was coughing a lot, that real chesty cough that just wrenches at your heartstrings. We have been doing the best we could with him, and decided it would be best if we took him back in, since he'd obviously gotten worse. His cough had seemed to move in more, it was hard for him to eat anything, he was really congested, and he seemed to have started running a fever. We went in, and he has an ear infection in one ear, and also a slight case of RSV. They put him on some antibiotics and some breathing treatments, and that seems to be helping. He's been able to sleep some this evening, and his fever seems to be going down at least a bit. The congestion has broken up a bit as well, so he can kind of breathe through his nose again. The next couple of days should be telling, but things seem to be looking up.

Just Keeps Growing, and Growing, and Growing ....
Ezra has grown a lot the last month or so, a couple of inches or so. He's sitting up a lot better, and loves to "walk" around (holding onto someone's hands of course). He's been a really happy kid generally, which makes things nice.He is really mobile, and kind of funny when he gets up on all fours, like this:
His hair has grown pretty long, we may have to clip it a bit soon.
He has been eating a lot recently too, which isn't really that surprising, considering his growth spurt.
We've found that its just easiest for now to corral him in the front room. We put some chairs in one opening, the play-yard in the second, and some boxes or something in the other. Its just easier that way. Its fun to see how curious he is though. He's the type of kid that if you lay in his way, he'll just go around if he wanted something on the other side of you.
It looks like we'll be moving out of our apartment next month, which will be a welcome change. This last week, our upstairs neighbors sound like they've been running the Kentucky Derby all day long. The funny thing is that being in a house will be cheaper than it has been to be in our apartment. Its not too far away, which should make the move a bit easier.
We found a good deal on a rocker/glider this last weekend and just couldn't pass it up. Isn't it nice?
Susan and Ezra have really liked it. See!

Mobile? Yes. Crawling?.....Not Really.
Ezra has decided that he doesn't like pureed foods anymore with the exception of squash. So, we have started into the wonderful realm of finger foods that don't actually need teeth to chew. So far he really likes bread and gerber puffs. Today he had pancakes for the first time and loved them.
The past couple of weeks have been interesting because Ezra has decided to give up his midday nap. Let's just say some days were more tiring than others.
Ezra has a shoe fetish and he will do anything to get to a shoe if he sees one. It's pretty funny considering he can't crawl yet. He does do this cute move that gets him everywhere and I mean everywhere. I'm definitely getting some exercise trying to keep him out of things.
Doing his own type of crawl.

Toys, Fruit, and Crawling soon.
Ahh ... the mid-winter in Phoenix. Its this time of year that we look at each other and say "This is why we live in Arizona." Mid 60's to mid 70's during the day. Beautiful.
Ezra has been getting really excited about stuff this past week.He still really likes his soft blocks. Actually, he probably likes them a lot better now because he can hold them, chew on them, throw them, etc.
He really likes Susan's exercise ball too. He likes the noises that it makes when he pounds on it. He also likes bouncing on it with either of us.
Ezra has also been learning a few new things. He's quite a bit more mobile now, and starting to get into anything he can get his hands on. He's not really out and out crawling yet, just pulling himself across the floor and rolling a bit, but the last few days he's been getting up onto his hands and knees. He has a tendency to get kind of cranky for a bit when he starts learning big new things, and this week has been no exception. The last couple of days, as well as getting onto his hands and knees and moving around more, he's been realizing that he can make screaming noises whenever he wants, much to our chagrin. Oh well, so it goes. It was funny, tonight when we were about to say prayer for dinner, and had the TV muted, he scooted up, grabbed the volume knob and turned it a bit. So it starts ...
In other news, we've been eating a lot more fruit recently; which has been a good thing. We were kind of surprised how full our fruit bowl is after going shopping, but then again, we'll get through most of it by the end of the week, so its all good.

Games, Bottles, Swings, & Potatoes...
The last couple of weeks have been interesting. Ezra keeps getting bigger by the day it seems. Every day brings something new. The other day while we were playing Wii, Ezra woke up from his nap and played on the floor for a bit while we finished the last part of our game. He kept looking up at us and reaching for the controller whenever either of us would get close to him, so we gave him one to play with. It was funny to watch.
We decided to see what he'd do with trying to feed himself, so we stripped him down and gave him a pile of mashed potatoes to play with. He actually ate quite a bit, once he figured out what it was.
He's been holding his own bottle now. One day, Susan took the bottle from him since he was just playing around and not drinking. Apparently, he finally decided that he was hungry because he took it from her hands and stuck it into his mouth.
We also took him out to the park this weekend. It was nice to get out for a bit. He liked the swing, though he wasn't sure exactly what to make of the slide when each of us went down it with him.
In other news, Shawn's birthday was this week. There were random other goings on throughout the week. We had someone in the ward baby-sit for us and were able to go out on a date this weekend, which was really nice. Tonight we had Ammon & Shari over for dinner and games. They really like coming over and playing with Ezra. Dinner was really good too! Rhonda's recipe for pork Barbacoa is awesome! Susan made a really good red velvet cake too. We all were really full after dinner.

Going Retro!
While we were in New Mexico for Christmas Shawn's mom brought out some of his old clothes. We thought that one outfit in particular was awesome. So, on new year's morning I came out into the front room and Shawn had already dressed Ezra. What do you think of his new retro look? I think it's adorable.
