Coming Home Soon

Just a bit of an update. Everything is going well with Ezra. We expect him to come home early this next week. Everything seems to have resolved itself with him. He hasn't had an IV or anything in for the last few days, they've just been monitoring him. They switched him completely to breast milk today, which I think is welcome for him. He sleeps a lot, actually he seems to almost always be asleep, except when he wakes up and is hungry. When he's hungry he sticks everything he can in his mouth: his blanket, his hand, your hand, a pacifier, etc.

So, his hair has a definite red tinge to it, we'll see if it ends up being like Susan's or if it is more of a strawberry blond. His eyes also seem to have developed a greenish tinge, so we'll see about that too.

Now we've both been able to hold and feed Ezra! YAY! He wasn't quite so adamant about eating today as he was yesterday, but he still ate some and seemed to really calm down. He seemed really curious about everything around him, and spent some time looking around all over. It felt so good to be able to hold him, and feel him in my arms. It especially felt good because last night he had been fairly fussy when I had been in.



Actually, he's been being pretty fussy recently in the evenings. I think that he's seen what its like to be held, and doesn't like just laying in his bed anymore. Either that or the formula they've been giving him hasn't been agreeing with his stomach, or something like that. We'll see. At any rate, he's been active throughout the day. He's managed to pull some of the electrodes off of his chest, and also took the visor off of his eyes (he's still under the UV lights, so they cover his eyes with a visor to keep him from hurting them).

I also was able to finish coloring and arranging a picture that I had drawn a little while back that we're going to take to him tomorrow. It looks like this:

Well, it mostly looks like that. My printer and monitor don't quite agree on the shades, so in print it is a bit darker, but I thought that it actually looked better that way, but that's okay. I hope he likes it (not that he'll probably notice it for a couple of years, but hope that he likes it then)

Hello everybody!

Ezra wanted to say hi to everyone:

Ezra got to start eating yesterday. They've started him on some special formula that should help out a bit. He really enjoyed his first bottle, and almost wouldn't let go of it when it was empty. Susan also finally got to actually hold him, which was really exciting. He likes to play with his ears quite a bit.




They've got him under some UV lights, since he was starting to look a bit yellow, the only thing being that he really doesn't like having the covers over his eyes. They may take them off today, just depending, but this isn't really anything to worry about.


They've been doing some vibration therapy on him. Basically they have a little massager that they use to massage around his lungs in order to loosen up any pockets of fluid. He seems to generally really like it. The nurse laughed and said, "He's tanning and getting a massage, only a couple days old and already spoiled." All of the respiratory nurses have said that his lungs sound really good and clear on the inside, which is good.

The next couple of days should probably tell us a bit more about how long it will be before he comes home. If he isn't producing too much more fluid while eating completely on his own, then that means that they will probably take the tube out soon and that he would be able to come home all the sooner, which is what we are hoping and praying for.

EZRA IS HERE!!!

Ezra Wayne Camp was born at 7:43 am on Sunday June 15, 2008! He was 7lbs 1.4oz, and 19 3/4 inches long. Isn't he just adorable?
Susan is doing really well, and is home now.
Ezra is still in the NICU for a little while, but everything has been looking good, so hopefully he will be able to come home soon. He had some fluid around his right lung, so we were a bit worried about him, but he seems to be doing well. He's been able to breathe on his own since he was born, and they've put a tube in to drain the fluid. They're going to start feeding him tomorrow, and how he handles that will tell when he gets to come home.
He's got dark blue eyes and some hair. We're still debating a bit what color it is, but we think its a reddish-blonde at this point.

Ready to POP!

So, at 37 weeks I feel like I'm going to pop. According to the doctor he's measuring a week ahead. That puts him at around 7 1/2 pounds. It was really funny to have the ultrasound tech then the doctor both make the comment "Wow, he's a big boy!" without being in the room at the same time.

It still works...

I bet that nobody even imagined having a screen this size to play Atari on back in the early 80's, but hey, why not?

I pulled my Atari 7800 out of the closet last night, opened up the two joysticks, cleaned the contacts off a bit, and voila! It works! The only sad part about it is that the games that I remember most were actually for the 5200, and so they won't work with mine, but you can't have everything, right?

The weather has been awesome the last week or so since the storm came through. We had a couple of days up around 105, and figured that the nice weather was over for the year, but a nice storm came through and its been in the mid 70's.


We've been grilling quite a decent amount, which has been nice. I was very proud of how these kabobs turned out, though both of us eating the garlic cloves might have been a bit much :P

So, I got a package from Jessica today. I was expecting some soft blocks that I had asked her to make. Yet when I opened up the box this is what I found. I was so excited. It really made my day. Thanks Jess! (Oh and Shawn thinks that the tie looks like Rory's easter tie)
